This is the first in a new series of post: VW sightings, from now on I’ll be doing posting random photos of vintage VW’s I’ve seen as I wander about and would love if you joined in! So if you’ve had a VW sighting and snapped a pic please share the love, just email me (email@example.com) and I’ll post it! Please include where the sighting was and any other info you can add like the model, year, or if it’s needing a new home!
this bus is looking for a new home
This was taken along the way as I made my first trip out to The Frog Pond in SilverHill, AL.
Cathe opens her home to music lovers every Sunday to gather on the lawn of her 30 acre property. Musicians jam and people listen, the sun sets and we all go home happy.
If you’ve never heard of the Hangout Music Festival or just never had the chance to come down, this year is going to be another to remember. Last year Paul Simon top my list along with Michael Franti who can make you get up and dance on the worst of days or the hottest, the temperatures on the beach can reach into the mid 90′s but it hasn’t stopped this Hippy, I’m going back for my third year of fun, music and sun.
The line up for the sold out weekend is:
This is the only kind of stache you’ll find me with there. I’m pretty squeaky these days.
Their gift shop is crazy, so you just might catch this driving down the road on our peacemobile.
There’s not many hippie communes left in the world and as Andrew Jacobs of The New York Times wrote that, contrary to popular misconceptions, “most communes of the ’90s are not free-love refuges for flower children, but well-ordered, financially solvent cooperatives where pragmatics, not psychedelics, rule the day.” There are many contemporary intentional communities all over the world, a list of which can be found at the Fellowship for Intentional Community.
One of those is the Findhorn Foundation community who is celebrating their 50th anniversary year with a Love, Magic, Miracles conference to explore and celebrate the spiritual truth that love is the greatest power on earth.
Findhorn Foundation community is an experiment in conscious living, a learning centre and an ecovillage to read more visit them HERE.
Happy New Year! and with what might be the last day of warm weather here as I must get the peace-mobile ready for winter or should I say hibernation. She is an awesome vehicle and I can’t image storing her for 3 months but with the temp dropping into the 20′s by Tuesday there isn’t enough blankets on Earth to keep us warm and having another vehicle equipt with heated seats and well heat I don’t think it’s a hard decision to make especially when you start to hear the chattering of little teeth, but she won’t be forgotten we are already planning some great adventure in peace-mobile for the spring and summer, the kiddos and I can’t wait! …….Or should I say GRAND adventures! Hint, Hint.
Peace out peace-mobile until Spring.
Touching Tribute to Mary by Peter Yarrow in Fairhope, AL so glad I had the opportunity to see him again!
Peter Yarrow and Me
Just a quick post with a random photo of me hanging on stage with Peter as he sang Puff the Magic Dragon and a set of other greats, crazy it’s been something like 19 years since I last saw Peter, Paul and Mary perform at Artpark up in Lewiston, NY., he included a tribute song for his beloved friend Mary, there were tears, smiles and 100 kids he inspired to help changed the world, I even got a hug and kiss from him along with a signed copy of his Puff The Magic Dragon pop-up book. Peter was a hippie, is a hippie and continues to express his views on peace, love and happiness, all and all it was a powerful evening!
